What is Stendra?

Stendra is an ED drug that works in a similar way to Viagra. Only it’s a little quicker.

Stendra contains avanafil. It helps blood vessels near the penis to relax. This means that more blood can get into the penis, and makes it easier to hold onto a firm erection.

After you’ve taken it, it should stay active for up to 5 hours. So it gives you a sizable window if you’ve taken it a little earlier than you need to.

What dose of Stendra should I take?

There are three doses: 50mg, 100mg and 200mg.

The doctor will help you settle on the right Stendra dose. They’ll take into account whether you’re a first-time user or have used it before, or have medical conditions.

Usually you’ll start with Stendra 50mg or 100mg, to see how you do with a low or medium dose.

For example, if 50mg doesn’t help quite enough with symptoms, you could be upped to Stendra 100mg, or even Stendra 200mg after that. This is called ‘titrating.’

Stendra and Spedra: what’s the difference?

Nothing much, apart from the name.

Stendra and Spedra are both made by Menarini, both contain avanafil and are available in the same doses. They do exactly the same thing in the body and work just as well as each other.

The only difference is that in the USA, the drug is called Stendra. In the UK and Europe, it’s called Spedra.

What is erectile dysfunction?

Impotence, or ED, is the inability to get or maintain an erection.

But that’s a simple explanation for a complicated problem. A lot of men don’t realise they’ll probably experience some form of impotence at some point in their lives. It can be very occasional and mild, or permanent and more severe.

Usually, it happens because the blood vessels in the penis become damaged or too constricted. This means blood can’t fill the penis, so it can’t become erect (even when you really need it to).

Does Stendra cost more than other drugs?

It will be more expensive than some alternatives, yes. This is because most branded ED treatments are available in generic forms, and that tends to be more cost effective. The exclusivity rights on Stendra are still active because it’s comparatively new, so there is no Stendra generic available at present.

However, it’s important to remember that of all ED pills, Spedra gets to work the fastest.

Uncommonly, it can cause erections that do not go away (called priapism). If this doesn’t go away within 4 hours, you should see a doctor. Uncommon side effects also include loss of vision in one or both eyes, you should stop taking Stendra straight away if this happens.
